Riding the DDOT buses is an everyday adventure. I am just back from a meeting at St. Matthew’s & St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church Detroit in the North End. Residents in our neighborhood are being economically strangled, as most bus service in our neighborhood has been eliminated on weekends, and the so-called 415 Plan is a punchline in the making for a joke on residents who can’t afford Detroit’s inflated car insurance rates or the skyrocketing price of gas.
The 415 Plan still amounts to buses full to capacity passing riders by on a regular basis. Shouldn’t the Mayor and Council get to ride the bus to work at least once a month during peak times? Oh, I forget—they don’t punch a time clock or get rated on attendance!
